Forging a new path
The story of how two engineers decided to challenge the traditional British watchmaking industry, proving that British-made watches aren't impossible.
"We created Apiar to ask ‘why not?’ and to inspire the watch industry to leap forwards using pioneering manufacturing."
Our Journey
The Inception
What began as a passion project takes shape. Bitten by the ‘Watch’ bug, Matt leverages his engineering and 3D printing background to craft custom watches for himself, Sam, and their fathers.
Why Not
Down the rabbit hole. Seeing a gap in the market for true engineering and additive manufacturing, Matt and Sam unite to found Apiar—the start of a new brand.
How the F*ck
Apiar’s first build with Apex. Our initial foray into titanium powder manufacturing revealed critical insights into how watch cases look, feel, and machine.
Prototype V1
Our first fully machined titanium prototype. It fogged up and was held together by hope, but it was our first British-made additive watch—and we wore it with pride.
Our First Public Appearance
Matt and Sam unveil the Invenire v1.0 at Worldtime UK in Heathrow, gathering critical feedback from early enthusiasts.
Invenire Launch
Our debut watch goes global. Customers worldwide order 1-of-1 timepieces through our interactive 3D configurator.
ERB Collaboration
Apiar partners with Dial Artist Chris Alexander. The resulting piece remains Matt's favorite—a watch that embodies a story rather than just telling time.
British Watchmakers Day
We showcased the Gen1.0 at our first BWD. Co-designed with Max Resnick using generative tech, this futuristic dress watch established Apiar’s new design standard.
Dawn or Dusk
Launch day of our first continuous collection. An industry first: an additively manufactured watch featuring an ‘impossible’ titanium dial seamlessly integrated into the midcase.
Media Mixes Up Max
Time & Tide ignites a collaboration. Apiar teams up with two Max Resnicks to launch the Gen1.1 MR^2, an iconic Solana wrist watch.
As Seen In
Our first major press coverage. The New York Times tells Apiar’s story, detailing how we craft the impossible in British watchmaking.
Mind the Gap
Our second British Watchmakers Day. Apiar launches and sells out the Gen1.1 Underground in just 40 minutes.
Frustrated?
Then change things.
Once you’ve seen and experienced something amazing, it’s hard to go back.
Building the Gen1.0
Most brands prefer to keep you behind the curtain. At Apiar, we are an open book. Dive into the complete process—the successes, the failures, and everything it took to build the Gen1.0.
